Monroe County

Monroe County is located in eastern Pennsylvania, situated 90 miles north of Philadelphia, 75 miles west of New York and 116 miles east of Harrisburg. Today, the County stretches across 611 square miles of rural terrain, rolling hills, and farmlands to the more populated boroughs. It consists of 16 townships and 4 boroughs. The Townships are governed by supervisors and the Boroughs by mayors. As you can see from the Census information, we are growing rapidly, and in fact, we are the second fastest growing county in Pennsylvania.

If you come to the Poconos in the spring and summer, you can enjoy excellent fishing, white-water rafting, golf, hiking, tennis, mountain biking and all manner of water sports. You may want to visit in the autumn, when you can enjoy those activities with a brilliant mosaic of color as a backdrop. Winter blankets Monroe County in white, transforming them into a playground for skiing, snowboarding, snowmobiling and sleigh rides.
Whatever the season, you'll find the Poconos offer great shopping and interesting historical tours, all of which makes the Poconos ideal for a family vacation, honeymoon, business or corporate meeting, motor coach trip, convention or a couples getaway - any time of the year.
